Copper turnings is treated the same as No.2 Copper Wire (Birch/Cliff). No.2 Copper is the grade that should consist of 95% of pure Copper after melted.
As the grade is mixed with various types of copper turnings, As long as the size is within the regulation, it should be accepted in trades and is also known as Mixed Copper.
It may either originate from factories or derives from normal life activities.
It is said to be the most traded copper related grade in the market.

The collected copper powder is visually checked to make sure there isn`t an excessive amount of combustibles, oil or foreign substances.
The copper powder that has been inspected will then be loaded onto trailers or stuffed in jumbo bags before loaded onto a trailer and delivered mainly to copper smelters.

Copper smelters will melt the turnings in a high-temperature furnace of 1,000 degrees or more, and the purity is increased by going through several furnaces, and finally with the purity of 99.99% is produced. This process is called copper refining.
